The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
The Office of Fiscal Operations/Bureau of Reconciliation and Control (BORAC) records and maintains all financial transactions affecting DSS/HRA/DHS.
The Bank Accounts and Disbursement Auditor will perform high level audits, prepare/review voucher requests, maintain records, and reconcile funds disbursed or deposited into DSS/HRA/DHS bank accounts for the Cash Assistance (CA) program which has an annual budget totaling approximately $1.35 billion dollars.
The tasks are a critical part of guaranteeing our Agency complies with the Office of the Comptroller’s annual audit.
The Office of Fiscal Operations/Bureau of Reconciliation and Control (BORAC) is seeking a Management Auditor I to function as Bank Accounts and Disbursement Auditor who will:
Work Location: 4 WTC/150 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007 Hours/Schedule: 9-5
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in auditing, accounting, finance, economics, statistics, law, quantitative or qualitative research methodology, mathematics, data science, management, public or business administration, computer science/information technology, or a related field, and one of the following: (a) one year of full-time satisfactory experience in performance auditing according to Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), financial auditing, internal auditing, and/or information technology (IT) auditing; or (b) a valid Certified Public Accountant license issued by the New York State Education Department; or (c) a valid Certified Internal Auditor certificate issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as a Management Special Note To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as a Management Auditor
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
