TD seeks to hire a candidate to serve as Bus Priority Analyst within its Bus Priority subunit. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Bus Priority, the candidate will advance key initiatives related to the planning, design, and implementation of bus priority projects to improve the speed and reliability of bus operations on New York City streets. The candidate will contribute to proposals to improve bus service on identified corridors using NYC DOT s toolkit, including bus lanes, bus queue jumps, bus bulbs, bus boarding islands, curb management, and pedestrian safety improvements. The candidate will conduct data analysis, including evaluations of bus priority projects, GIS maps, and other technical traffic analysis. They will also conduct outreach with the general public; work with community boards and other public stakeholders in public workshops, presentations, and other settings.
The candidate will work collaboratively within the TD unit, closely with other DOT staff, and with other city, state, and federal agencies (particularly the MTA).
TPM is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City. The Division’s responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility, and markings, ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Preferred Skills Candidates should have experience working on transportation or urban planning-related projects, with strong design, data, and outreach skills; should have experience with geographic data collection and analysis, particularly in the ArcGIS suite; Experience with traffic analysis is highly desirable. Should be familiar with transit-oriented street design; and should exhibit a capacity for problem-solving. Experience with CAD and/or graphic design software is desirable.

Special Qualification Requirements Assignment Level III To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level III, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described in "2" above.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
