The Team You’ll Work With: The NYC Office of Community Safety advances a whole-of-government approach to violence prevention and public safety that addresses gun violence prevention, hate crime prevention, survivor services, domestic violence prevention, and innovations in crisis response services. The Office oversees the Office of Crime Victim Services,¿Office to Prevent Gun Violence, Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, Office for the Prevention of Hate¿Crimes¿and the Office of Community Mental Health.
The Problems You’ll Solve: The Chief of Staff serves as the Commissioner's principal advisor and leads the Office of the Commissioner. Reporting directly to the Commissioner, the Chief of Staff is responsible for driving organizational strategy, coordinating executive priorities, and ensuring alignment across the Office of Community Safety. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Chief of Staff oversees communications, external affairs, and strategic initiatives; supervises the Deputy Chief of Staff; and works closely with City Hall, partner agencies, elected officials, and community stakeholders to advance the Office's mission and strategic priorities.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of the interview.
