The Facilities Management Division plays a critical role in keeping Department facilities operating safely for staff and visitors as it oversees the upkeep and maintenance for over 250 Department Facilities Citywide. FMD manages multiple facility renovations that support Department initiatives and unit relocations and is comprised of uniform, civilian, trades, professional and administrative staff.
The Facilities Management Division is looking to hire motivated City Custodial Assistants whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - sweep and mop office floors, corridors, lobbies and other assigned floor areas - cleans wash basins and other toilet room facilities - replenishes bathroom supplies - empty waste baskets and disposes of trash - vacuums rugs and carpets - dusts/cleans blinds and walls - polishes furniture and metal - cleans mirrors and glass - sweeps and remove snow from sidewalks - other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
