The Team You’ll Work With: The Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement (OME) is responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and executing on engagement that reaches the masses of everyday New Yorkers. We engage New Yorkers in shaping policy outcomes, demystifying government, and ensuring that the government remains accountable to serving the people of this great City. Our work is designed as a long-term project – we are building the power of everyday New Yorkers, and we are building a City that works for all of us.

The Problems You’ll Solve: The Citywide Constituency Affairs Lead’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Citywide Constituency Affairs Director, assisting with building, maintaining, and updating processes to appropriately triage constituent matters.
  • Supporting with constituent requests over phone and email, and accurately tracking and cataloguing all constituent requests.
  • Assist with ensuring that agencies follow up on individual or communal constituency matters in a way that aligns with the mission and vision of OME.
  • Greeting and meeting with in-person visitors who come to OME seeking assistance.
  • Representing the Mayor’s Office of Mass Engagement at city agency events.
  • Other duties as required.

About You:

  • You are passionate about ensuring that all New Yorkers have access to the support readily available to them.
  • You are eager to ensure that concerns from constituents are tracked and responded to appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • You are a motivated self-starter who can assist in following through with minimal guidance.
  • You are an enthusiastic collaborator.
  • You are familiar with basic digital tracking systems (Microsoft, Excel, AirTable) and/or have a willingness to learn.
  • You have previous organizing experience, including as a volunteer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
