Job description

  • Assisting the planning, development, and implementation of goals and program-area priorities.
  • Assisting the management of escalations procedures, and caseload, to help Intergov provide timely updates on resolutions to elected officials.
  • Logging elected official events that NYSDOL cosponsors, or participates in, to capture and report on via Salesforce.
  • Upkeeping elected official contact records in DOLi.
  • Preparing Intergov meeting materials, including NYSDOL publications and presentations for elected officials throughout New York City.
  • Participating in planning NYSDOL events
  • Providing research into special projects, outreach efforts, and event planning
  • Participate in change in organizational transformations, ensuring successful adoption and alignment with strategic objectives
  • Engage in technology and innovation by leveraging emerging technologies to optimize processes and enhance customer experiences
  • Proactively manage relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Think strategically about current and future organizational needs
  • Adapt to shifting priorities
  • Participate in the comprehensive process of implementing changes, ensuring smooth transitions, effective communication, and minimal disruption
  • Proactively identify, address, and resolve conflicts to foster constructive dialogue and a productive, collaborative work environment

Minimum Qualifications

Be a United States citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States

Be 18 years of age or older

Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State*

Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program

Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the New York state legislative cycle.
  • Knowledge of state and federal legislative processes and the New York City legislative environment.
  • Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening skills.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

Core Competencies:

  • Must be a self-starter and team player, able to work collaboratively with and through others.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects

Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to learn and work in new software and electronic platforms

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Degree Concentrations/Major:

  • Communications Studies
