Job summary

The Purchasing Buyer supports neighborhood developments by procuring goods and services, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely and efficient purchasing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in purchasing goods and services for all of NYCHA.
  • Manage vendor communications and follow up on purchase order status.
  • Advise and support operational, technical, and professional staff in managing purchases.
  • Collaborate across departments to identify and fulfill purchasing needs.
  • Provide timely and effective customer service to requestors and internal stakeholders.
  • Review and process requisitions in the Oracle queue, including expedited requests.
  • Monitor purchasing trends and liaise with Procurement staff to help identify and develop contract opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot purchasing issues and resolve discrepancies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the direct supervisor.
