The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) protects public health and the environment by supplying clean drinking water, collecting, and treating wastewater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. We deliver 1.1 billion gallons of high quality drinking water per day to 8.3 million New York City residents and more than 1 million people in Upstate New York, and we collect and treat an average of 1.3 billion gallons of wastewater per day.
The Bureau of Police & Security seeks to hire a Computer Associate for the Security Engineering Unit, located at the DEP Office in Valhalla, NY.
The selected candidate will work with engineers, electricians, computer staff and/or contractors, both in office and in the field to perform security system and computer setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance. They will interact with internal IT organization on issues relating to security systems, provide technical support for computers and security systems to end users at various locations within the boroughs of New York City and its upstate watershed areas. They will become familiar with and be able to do basic administration of the CCTV and access control system.
They will participate in security system planning and rollout of newly integrated locations and participate in system testing.
Experience in MS SQL Server administration, Transact-SQL, electronic access control/intrusion detection systems, CCTV, or electronics in general is a plus.
This position will require same day travel to multiple locations within 9 upstate NY counties and the boroughs of NYC.
