Job description

Under the direction of a Data Analyst 3, the duties of the Data Analyst 2 include but are not limited to the following:

  • Produce business intelligence solutions by querying data repositories and generating periodic reports
  • Manage the development, maintenance and support of dashboards based on user stories or program requests
  • Devise methods for identifying data patterns and trends in data sources; assesses data structures and how they can be used to produce desired reports; identifying data definitions, along with the cleansing and maintenance of data
  • Research new data sources and analytical tools, and recommend solutions; conduct or coordinate tests to ensure that business intelligence solutions are consistent with defined needs; ensure standards are adhered to for consistent data collection, storage, and access
  • Test, validate and reformulate models to ensure accurate prediction of outcomes of interest
  • Draft new functions or applications in programming languages to conduct analyses
  • Create written reports and effectively communicates/presents results
  • Supervise Data Analyst 1s

Additional Duties Include:

  • Participate in change in organizational transformations, ensuring successful adoption and alignment with strategic objectives
  • Engage in technology and innovation by leveraging emerging technologies to optimize processes and enhance customer experiences
  • Proactively manage relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Think strategically about current and future organizational needs
  • Adapt to shifting priorities
  • Participate in the comprehensive process of implementing changes, ensuring smooth transitions, effective communication, and minimal disruption
  • Proactively identify, address, and resolve conflicts to foster constructive dialogue and a productive, collaborative work environment
  • Analyze issues, make sound judgments, and implement effective solutions to drive positive outcomes
  • Proactively identify potential challenges and identify preventative solutions
  • Take part in team collaboration and achieve agency objectives
  • Effectively convey information, ideas, and expectations to diverse audiences through various channels, ensuring clarity and understanding
  • Foster an inclusive and equitable environment that values and leverages the strengths of a diverse workforce
  • Ensure exceptional customer service by proactively addressing needs and expectations
  • Demonstrate self-awareness and empathy to effectively manage relationships, build trust, and foster productive interactions
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and professional integrity in all actions and decisions
  • Maintain and apply an understanding of relevant technologies and digital tools to optimize performance and drive innovation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced experience in Tableau, BigQuery, Salesforce, SQL and Python.
  • Experience with advanced data analytics skills.
  • Experience in migrating large datasets or ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop effective solutions during complex migrations.

Minimum Qualifications

Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications:

Seven years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.

*Substitution: An associate’s degree may substitute for two years of general experience; or a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of general experience. A master’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, may substitute for one year of general experience; or a Ph.D. in these fields may substitute for two years of general experience.

Your degree must have been awarded by an educational institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education. If awarded by an institution outside of the U.S. and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
