DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
The Bureau of Water Supply (BWS) Capital Programs Management Directorate, under its Infrastructure Planning, Design & Construction group, is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of the Bureau’s capital projects. The overall program consists of several on-call contracts, each of which may have up to a dozen individual assignments, that must be executed concomitantly. In support of these efforts, BWS seeks to hire an Administrative Engineer NM-1 to serve as Deputy Chief of On-call Planning & Design, located in Valhalla NY. Under supervision, and with a high degree of latitude, the Deputy Chief is responsible for supporting the Deputy Director of Capital Programs Management in the planning, management, and coordination of moderately complex capital projects from scope, design, and construction phases.
Specific duties include:

Special Working Conditions: Some of the physical activities performed by the employee include: walking to and from inspection sites and during the course of inspections; climbing and descending ladders or stairs to get to areas to be inspected; standing on scaffolds to inspect work; standing for an extended period of time; bending and stooping during inspections; working in confined areas; distinguishing colors; wearing a hard hat; climbing over and around various objects; walking in areas that may be damp, dark smoky or acrid; working outdoors in all kinds of weather; must be able to lift about 20 pounds of equipment when required.
Employee may be required to work shifts including nights, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
