Job description

  • The candidate filling the position of Developmental Assistant Tr/1 will work under the guidance of the Developmental Assistant 3 and the Treatment Team Leader in a community setting.
  • The incumbent will perform a wide variety of tasks in a community-based residence. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • The incumbent will work as part of a team to maintain the general health, well-being, and safety of the service recipients.
  • Supervise direct care professionals to implement services according to plans and preferences.
  • Generate work schedules for the residence, keep track of required training and schedule to remain in compliance.
  • Follow, implement, and enforce all DDSO internal operational systems including but not limited to attendance, staff utilization, incident management, upkeep of physical plant, fire safety compliance.
  • Supervise direct support professionals to maintain the physical plant in a home-like atmosphere.
  • Supervise supplies, generate orders for the needs of the home.
  • Organize and keep personal spending for individuals for record reviews.
  • Attend meetings, training courses and will be responsible for documenting meetings for staff under their supervision.
  • Ensure incident reporting, documentation and processing is in line with 624/625 regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with electronic health record keeping, inclusive but not limited to daily service documentation.
  • Participate in all CATH trainings, meetings, COPs, and events in line with clinical milieu

Minimum Qualifications

Promotion: one year of service as a Direct Support Assistant (all parenthetics), Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, or Licensed Practical Nurse, and completion of a one-year traineeship.

The position may be filled at the Developmental Assistant Trainee level equated to SG-11 or full performance Developmental Assistant 1 level equated to SG-12 based on education and experience. Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance level following the successful completion of the traineeship.

Developmental Assistant Trainee: High school or high school equivalency diploma and one year of experience in the care, treatment, and habilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Developmental Assistant 1: High school or high school equivalency diploma and two years of experience in the care, treatment, and habilitation of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

70.1 TRANSFER:

One year of service as a Direct Support Assistant (all parenthetics), Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, or Licensed Practical Nurse, and completion of a one-year traineeship.

55 B/C QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess the minimum qualifications for this title as established by the Department of Civil Service and listed on the most recent exam announcement.
  • Meet the applicable minimal mental and/or physical requirements for the job (with a reasonable accommodation, if necessary).
  • Have a current Eligibility Letter from the NYS Department of Civil Service, www.cs.ny.gov/rp55/, and be able to provide it to the Human Resources Office upon request.
