Under the supervision of a Dietitian, the Dietitian Technician will assist in providing dietetic and nutrition services to individuals. The Dietitian Technician will be responsible for maintaining individuals' records, documenting and updating their information, including diet histories, plans, and any modifications prescribed by physicians. The incumbent will perform standardized dietetic care tasks, such as nutrition screenings and assessments on low-risk individuals.
They will observe individuals at mealtimes; record and report observations, including eating habits and reactions to food and special diets and will consult with supervisors and treatment staff regarding changes in individuals' diets and nutrition goals.
The Dietitian Technician will provide standard nutrition information and instruction on diets and food preparation activities to individuals, families, and healthcare staff.
They will inspect and supervise food preparation, handling, service areas, and meals. They will further assist in identifying deficiencies and implementing corrective action plans to ensure compliance with prescribed diets, menus, standards, and requirements.
They will also monitor and maintain food service and supply inventories.
NON-COMPETITIVE: Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Dietetic Technician, Registered or Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered.
OR satisfactory completion of an approved two-year full-time course in the field of dietetics with emphasis on nutritional care or food service management.
New York State agencies, departments, and public authorities provide services across healthcare, engineering, administration, public safety, the trades, and other areas.
