The incumbent of this position will report to the Field Response Section within the Office of Emergency Management.

To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:
Six years of emergency management experience in one or more of the following areas: coordinating and implementing emergency management, disaster, and/or transportation related preparedness programs; preparing or modifying multiple emergency management plans; preparing, modifying, and presenting emergency management training and/or exercises; gathering and analyzing information to produce briefings or reports or to make timely and effective incident response decisions; representing an agency or organization in an Emergency Operations Center or supporting position on the Incident Command System; managing or supervising response or recovery operations during a major emergency or disaster by overseeing the distribution or staging of equipment and supplies.
Substitutions with a degree as listed below:
Current New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services employee with one year or more permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Disaster Preparedness Program Representative 2 and are interested in reassignment OR are a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service as a Fire Protection Specialist 1 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
