The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Public Buildings, seeks a Facility MEP Assessor. The candidate will be responsible for conducting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing condition assessments in City-owned buildings. The selected candidate will assess and evaluate the building’s performance including energy usage, HVAC equipment, fire protection components, and the building’s overall code compliance, sustainability and resiliency, etc., and outline immediate and potential problem areas so that informed decisions can be made, and priorities can be set. Candidate will record existing conditions; provide code, local laws, and energy analysis and prepare facility assessment reports suitable for sponsor budget planning purposes.

Driver License Requirement: At the time of appointment to this position, you must have a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations, license suspension or an accident record, you may be disqualified. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
Candidates should thoroughly understand building construction methods, materials, and systems, especially older 19th and 20th century buildings. Expertise in the forensic diagnosis of deterioration, distress, and failure issues is highly desirable, as well as an up-to-date understanding of construction and material costs. At least 3 years of prior relevant field inspection experience is required. This position requires a person with the physical ability to conduct site visits, including accessing stairs, catwalks, ladders, rooftops, and basements within multi-level buildings, and maneuver through confined spaces. The candidate must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing effectively. A valid motor vehicle driver’s license is required.
