The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person. Our core purpose is to protect public health and serve impartial justice through forensic science and medicine. OCME’s fellowship programs provide advanced subspecialty training to physicians pursuing careers in forensic medicine. The Graduate Medical Education Program Specialist will provide dedicated administrative and accreditation support across OCME’s fellowship programs, with a particular focus on maintaining compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and supporting the continued development of OCME’s graduate medical education programs.
The Graduate Medical Education Program Specialist will report directly to OCME’s Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and receive programmatic direction from the Associate Program Directors. The position will work closely with the Associate Program Directors, Program Coordinator, fellows, faculty and other OCME staff to support program administration and ensure accreditation requirements, documentation and deadlines are effectively managed. Work hours will vary throughout the academic year based on program activities, accreditation requirements, recruitment cycles, meetings and other fellowship needs. The successful candidate should be highly organized and detail oriented, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a complex academic and operational environment.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory, full-time experience related to the projects and policies to be studied in the particular position.
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
