The Health Information Management Administrator 1 (HIMA1) runs and supervises the Health Information Management (HIM) Department within the Quality Improvement Department. The Health Information Department is vital to the health and safety of the individuals served as it maintains all essential documents and records. It is imperative that records are maintained and accessible for the overall clinical and medical care of the individuals. Maintaining the integrity of confidentiality and releasing records within the governing laws is the secondary purpose of the HIM department.
-Develop policies related to Health Information Management including the organization of records, release of information and
-File Medical records and maintain documentation of records.

Open Competitive:
Current certification by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Management Technician with two years of post-college experience.
Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.
