Job summary

The New York City Law Department’s Family Court Division is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Unit Chief for the Interstate Child Support Unit.

Job Description:

  • Law Department’s Liaison with the NYC Human Resources Administration;
  • Directly oversee Borough Supervisory Staff;
  • Advance both internal and external training;
  • Manage the daily operations of the Interstate Child Support Unit (ICSU);
  • Serve as the chief legal advisor for ICSU case processing and litigation;
  • Ensure timely case processing through all phases of litigation;
  • Establish litigation and administrative policies for the Unit;
  • Serve as the Division’s liaison to city and statewide agencies, including but not limited to the Office of Temporary Disability Assistance, the Human Resources Administration’s Office of Child -Support Services, and the Office of Court Administration.

This position requires travel to all boroughs and may include working extended hours.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

The successful candidate will have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience and a demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Family Law, the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act and the Civil Practice Law and Rules. Other necessary qualifications include strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication and leadership skills. Admission to the NYS Bar is required.
