(NOT PROVISIONAL) IN THE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE OF CHILD PROTECTIVE SPECIALIST SUPERVISOR The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.
ACS’ Office of Investigations (INV) is made up of four main areas, including Investigative Consultants, the Instant Response Team Program, District Attorney Liaisons, and the Office of Safety First. INV works in conjuncture with the ACS Division of Child Protection (DCP) in efforts to ensure the safety of children in New York City (NYC). We achieve this goal by collaborating with outside entities, including law enforcement and other mandated reporters.
The Mission of Instant Response is to improve coordination between the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) and Law Enforcement in order to enhance the protection of children in New York City. In cases involving severe abuse and severe maltreatment personnel from ACS, the New York City Police Department (NYPD), and the District Attorney’s Offices (DA) will work together on “Instant Response Teams” in order to accomplish the following objectives:
