The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH), Public Health Laboratory is seeking to hire licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist for the Laboratory Microbiologist II position.
*Conducts routine and complex test on clinical specimens, and environmental samples. *Perform BSL3 testing of foods suspected to contain select agents (such as Bacillus anthracis and Yersinia pestis) that may be associated with investigated incidents of bioterrorism. *Processing samples submitted by law enforcement for biothreat agent testing in the BSL-3 using LRN microbiological/ molecular testing for BT agents. *Serves on the BTRL after hours on-call schedule and is considered a first responder by the PHL. *Ensures and maintains quality control and assurance activities. *Follows OSH safety guidelines. *Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and performs quality control procedures. *Participates in cross-training program at PHL for outbreak events as needed. *Maintains laboratory inventory supplies. *Performs other duties as required. *Ensures and maintains quality control and assurance activities.
Applicant must possess or be eligible for a New York State clinical Laboratory Technologist License as described in Article 165 of the New York State Education Law effective September 7,
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
