The Bronx County District Attorney’s Office ("BXDA") is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By "Pursuing Justice with Integrity," the Office places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants in criminal prosecution. Moreover, the Office aims to balance the need to seek appropriate redress for certain crimes while recognizing circumstances when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. By recognizing these significant distinctions and acting accordingly, BXDA has established a standard of excellence in the representation of the Bronx community at large, which continues to grow stronger every day.
BXDA is seeking a well-qualified Lieutenant whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.3 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Lieutenant is a sworn police officer and a member of the Detective Investigators' Bureau who is responsible for the supervision and management of a team of investigators. They supervise the daily activities of the team, coordinate with other supervisors, and monitor the progress of investigations. The Lieutenant is accountable to the Chief Detective Investigator.
Please Note: This is a sworn police officer position, which requires an experienced candidate. The candidate must meet all qualifications to be certified, as a police officer, in the NYS DCJS Police registry. This position requires the successful completion of police academy training in New York State and requires applicants to pass a mandatory background check to carry a firearm.
*** Note: Due to the nature of the work performed and the needs of the agency, incumbents may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, the Lieutenant must be able to travel for work responsibilities and training, both within and outside of NYS.
If you collect a NYS or NYC pension, the office will support a 211 waiver.
We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
