Job description

New York City Children’s Center (NYCCC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited hospital, is recruiting a licensed and board-certified physician to join their team as a Medical Specialist 2 and oversee the campuses in Queens, Bronx, and Brooklyn.

Medical Specialists at NYCCC collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care by providing comprehensive and individualized treatment to children and adolescents including:

  • Obtaining, reviewing, updating, and documenting information such as medical histories, test results, diagnoses, and treatments
  • Conducting physical examinations and treating medical conditions and illnesses
  • Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests and procedures
  • Determining and/or confirming diagnoses
  • Discussing procedures, test results, and treatments with individuals, families, and/or caregivers
  • Consulting with medical specialty providers and referring individuals to specialty providers based on diagnostic and treatment needs
  • Participating in discharge planning and assisting with facilitating medical follow up after discharge
  • Providing emergency medical care including Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED)

Nyccc

is a multi-faceted community-based psychiatric center providing behavioral health services to children and adolescents in the greater New York City area.

With campuses in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx; NYCCC provides a variety of inpatient and community services including Day Treatment Programs, Behavioral Health Clinics, Mobile Integration Team (MIT), Community Residences, and Peer Advocacy Services.

All programs are fully integrated which allows NYCCC to provide a full continuum of care to the children and adolescents they serve.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are licensed to practice medicine in New York State and have certification by Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
