Your Team: The Office of Finance and Administration (OFA) leads the agency’s effort with the planning and management of the agency's resources and advises the Commissioner and senior team on how to improve efficiency and allocate funding to carry out HPD's mission. The financial segment of OFA is comprised of the Budget, Capital Planning, and Fiscal Affairs.

These three divisions, work in conjunction to provide centralized support, consultation, and oversight on a broad range of financial issues for the entire agency.

Your Impact: The Fiscal Accounts Receivable Division is responsible for processing all revenues received by HPD. The unit ensures all accounting practices conform to the NYC Comptroller’s Directives, federal standards, and New York City Charter.

Your Role: The selected candidate will be responsible for monitoring the processing of agency receivables, including collecting and depositing checks/money orders, posting of wire transfers, credit card payments, ACH transactions and creating and approving Cash Receipt Entries in the City’s Financial Management System.

Your Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities of the selected candidate will include but not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and/or approval of daily deposits of Community Development Funds.
  • New loans research and entry as required.
  • Preparation and approval of reconciliations.
  • Facilitate related services as appropriate with respect to confidentiality and privacy.
  • Develop and maintain schedules to monitor internal and external reports.
  • Track, analyze, prepare and reconcile Accounts Receivable related reports.
  • Act as liaison between the Mortgage Services and Banking & Receivable units.
  • Provide analytical and technical support to the respective Director and Supervisor.
  • Perform special projects for Accounts Receivable as assigned by the Executive Director.

Preferred skills

  • Highly organized with ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver assignments on time
  • Must be hands on, disciplined, and detail oriented with ability to work independently in a high-volume environment
  • Have accounts receivable experience
  • Able to multitask
  • Experience in use of HPD Info (Agency Legacy System) and the City‘s Financial Management System (FMS) are a plus

Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
