Job description

Under the direction of the Executive Support Director, you will staff high-profile live event video productions in the field, primarily as a hands-on videographer, and will also be called on to fill several roles in live production. This role requires an expert-level understanding of live television environments, advanced camera systems, production switchers, and complex transmission workflows. The ideal candidate brings a sharp eye for detail, deep technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to thrive in a demanding, changing environment.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Field Leadership: Serve as Crew Chief for large, multi-camera live productions in the field, managing technical setup, execution, and crew coordination.
  • Live Switching: Act as a Technical Director for live events, focusing on basic switching and broadcast management rather than full program direction.
  • Camera & Media Capture: Operate high-end camera systems for statewide live events, satellite media tours, and dedicated b-roll packages.
  • Technical Setup & Quality Control: Oversee production lighting design and execute strict audio/video quality control for all outgoing feeds.
  • Transmission Management: Configure and operate IFB systems and advanced transmission workflows, including satellite, fiber, Video over IP, and bonded cellular systems.
  • Post-Production: Efficiently edit, format, and output high-quality video assets using Adobe Premiere Pro.

NOTE: Travel and a variable schedule, including overtime in support of operations, are required as necessary. Travel assignments will include frequent overnight travel on short notice.

Minimum Qualifications

Seven years of experience* as a news videographer, studio camera operator, art director, copywriter, graphic designer, video editor, producer, or web designer with a national network, local network television affiliate, cable news, commercial media production facility, marketing communications agency or related operation.

*College study in a related field may be substituted for up to four years of experience with 30 credit hours equaling one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Live Broadcast Experience: Extensive, proven background working in live television or high-stakes live event production.
  • Advanced Technical Knowledge: Expert-level proficiency with professional camera systems, production switchers, and signal flow.
  • Transmission Systems: Hands-on experience with satellite, fiber, Video over IP (VoIP), and bonded cellular systems (e.g., LiveU, Comrex).
