Job description

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in the Genesee Region is seeking a Parks & Recreation Aide to assist agency staff in the management of trees and shrubs throughout the Genesee Region.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform tree care operations, from aerial lifts and the ground, including tree removal and pruning.
  • Perform planting, stump grinding, brush chipping and integrative pest and vegetation management.
  • Operate and maintain various equipment including chainsaws, aerial lifts, dump trucks, chippers, stump grinders, skid steers, other heavy equipment, and hand tools used in tree care and park operations.
  • May interact with park patrons to resolve concerns, answer questions, and give general directions.
  • May perform other park-related operations as needed.
  • Perform work during emergency events as directed by the State Emergency Management Operations Center and/or NYSOPRHP management.

Minimum Qualifications

No minimum qualifications per Civil Service.
