The Physical Plant Manager based at Roberto Clemente State Park reports to the Park Director, and the regional admin team; and exercises the following duties and responsibilities: directly supervises the Maintenance Department staff as assigned by providing technical direction and oversight for maintenance and repair activities; evaluates staff and arranges for necessary training and development; prepares, updates and executes a comprehensive plan of preventative maintenance, maintenance and repair for systems, structures, fixed equipment and grounds at Roberto Clemente State Park; carries out regular methodical inspections of park systems and facilities to promptly identify needs for timely maintenance and repair; coordinates with higher level engineering staff, regional capital facilities staff and the parks management team and others to assure that priority needs for maintenance and repair are promptly identified and addressed in a manner which avoids disruption of park operations to the greatest extent feasible; determines needs for purchasing materials, equipment, and supplementary contractor services for required maintenance and repair of buildings, mechanical systems, fixed equipment, and grounds; completes necessary purchasing requests and prepares and/or compiles any required supporting documentation; develops a comprehensive budget as needed for annual maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs required at Roberto Clemente State Park; evaluates park facilities for energy conservation and sustainable operations; makes practical recommendations for actions to increase energy efficiency and energy conservation to the parks management team. This is a hands-on position requiring the successful candidate to preform hands on technical and mechanical work daily in addition to various administrative functions.
Under the general direction of the park's management team and the regional admin team, the incumbent sets standards, and assigns tasks based on the daily operational needs of the park. Duties include, but are not limited to:
assignments at other parks and emergency management tasks as needed.
Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering or industrial management, or an associate's degree in engineering technology and two years' experience in construction planning, construction supervision, or plant operations and maintenance for a public or private facility, or four years of such experience; and four years experience in plant management, with responsibility for construction, operation, and maintenance of a complex facility, of which at least two years must have been in a plant management position with full responsibility for the physical plant.
