The Team You’ll Work With: The Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice (MOCEJ) is a team of architects, lawyers, data and climate scientists, engineers, policy advisors, geologists, and city planners working to create a city where our 8.8 million New Yorkers can live, work, learn, and play in healthy, resilient, and sustainable neighborhoods.

The Problems You’ll Solve: This position reports to the Deputy Director for Clean Energy and will support the development and implementation of initiatives and policies that support a just, clean energy transition. The ideal candidate will be an organized and results-driven self-starter with demonstrated experience in project management, stakeholder outreach, research, and policy development, as well as have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The Policy Advisor must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism, often under short deadlines and high-pressure.
About You:
This will include designing and conducting public education and discussion events; conducting research and analysis on rate affordability, consumer protection, and service provision policies and processes; designing policy to advance utility ratepayer interests; and more.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of the interview.
