Job description

Buffalo Psychiatric Center (BPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Eligible or Board Certified Psychiatrists for their outpatient North Tonawanda Clinic, located in Niagara County.

As a Psychiatrist at BPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient centered, and recovery focused treatments to individuals with mental illness 18 year of age or older; including:

  • Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments
  • Creating treatment plans including medication management
  • Obtaining and reviewing appropriate laboratory tests and consulting with members of treatment team as needed
  • Providing individual and group psychotherapy
  • Participating in treatment team meetings

About BPC:

Buffalo Psychiatric Center (BPC) is a Joint Commission accredited Office of Mental Health facility providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals 18 years of age and over.

BPC offers a network of inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, vocational, residential, and peer services in Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Niagara counties.

BPC services provide a safe environment, fosters hope and respect, and creates opportunities for personal growth, choice, and recovery.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and have certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
