New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists.
The selected candidate will serve as Medical Director of the Center for Practice Innovation (CPI), an intermediary organization that supports the Office of Mental Health’s (OMH) mission to promote the widespread availability of evidence-based practices to improve mental health services, ensure accountability, and promote recovery-oriented outcomes.
Under the direction of the Director of CPI, the selected candidate’s duties will include but are not limited to:
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:
Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
*Limited permit option: If you are licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada, AND meet the other requirements for Psychiatrist 1 or 2, you are also eligible if you have a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State. If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position.
