The Medical Division operates 24/7 with the primary responsibility of overseeing the health and well-being of all members of the service, including both physical and psychological. The main office is located at 59-17 Junction Blvd. Queens, however, NYPD also operates out of 4 satellite offices to monitor and evaluate uniformed members of service while sick or on restricted duty.
The Behavioral Care & Support Section conducts fitness for duty evaluations as well as ensures members of service are receiving the appropriate behavioral health services they require. Employees who complete their doctoral degree requirements on or after October 1, 1992, must have at least one year of qualifying experience gained after the completion of all doctoral degree requirements; and License Requirement for Assignment Level II: C.
Once obtained, this license must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.

Applicants should have strong interest in conducting forensic evaluations as this is not a psychotherapy position. Good writing ability is also important as clinical report writing is an integral part of the job.
