Job description

*This position will require in-office presence. Hybrid work schedules may be possible based on specific job duties and consistent with ESD policy.

Basic Function:

Manage and assist with community relations for various ESD real estate development projects. Manage and assist with Community / Government Relations downstate.

Work Performed:

  • Provide community relations support to ESD’s Real Estate Development division.
  • Advise on and manage relationships with local community boards, elected and appointed officials, community organizations and developers; ensure positive project development and maximum community support.
  • With the Community Relations SVP and/or VO, develop and execute community relations strategy for economic development projects statewide.
  • Attend and manage meetings with elected officials and community leaders with the goal of delivering on projects of importance to ESD and the Governor.
  • Represent ESD or take notes at community events, hearings and meetings.
  • Monitor issues of concerns and relevance to communities in the project area and lead in creating solutions.
  • Serve as community relations team member for assigned real estate and community projects (for example Brooklyn Marine Terminal and Kingsboro Psychiatric Redevelopment).
  • Perform other job-related duties and projects as required by ESD Executive Management.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level required: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant area. Extensive relevant experience may be substituted.

Equivalent Experience required: 5+ years related project development work experience in public and private sector and in community relations and legislative/ constituent affairs.

Knowledge required: Excellent writing and communication skills; Microsoft Office.

Other skills: Community relations and coalition building.
