Hours: Full-Time – 35 Hours Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101 Only candidates who are permanent in the Construction Project Manager title or those who are reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #0169) or filed for Open-Competitive Exam #3042 may apply. The NYC Department of Design and Construction’s Division of Project Controls seeks a Senior Project Manager. Under the general supervision of the Senior Project Controls Specialist, cost estimating work will involve review drawings and maps, schedules, cost estimates, construction documents, plans, and specifications. The candidate will advance project controls best practices liaising with stakeholders on multiple project management tasks, which includes design and construction kick-off meetings, project controls workshops, and field visits. The candidate will support integration of schedule, risk and cost. The candidate will research integration of innovative technology in cost controls practice, such use of BIM, advanced tools for quantity take-offs, and advanced analytics. Stakeholders include project managers, estimators, schedulers, technologist, design consultants, and other Agency staff. Cost estimates are associated construction cost including general construction and other trade disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, as required. In reviewing cost estimates, the selected candidate is expected to following unit’s project controls procedures. Support is required during all phases of the project including front end planning and construction, which may require periodic field visits. The candidate will review and analyze bids for construction work; and tracking and reporting unit production rates and prices of construction to feed into DDC databases.
Candidate will coordinate and collaborate with other project controls specialists; may supervise junior project controls staff and guide them in resolving project controls issues.

If you have moving violations, license suspension or an accident record, you may be disqualified. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
Candidates should have knowledge of design principles and construction practice; competent in administration of complex technical operations; ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; experience in facilitating meetings and workshops; excellent collaborative and independent problem-solving skills; excellent data management skills.
