Job description

Assist with the operation and maintenance of DEC facilities, including buildings, flood control projects, wildlife management areas, fishing access sites, and state forests. Will be required to operate equipment and power tools safely and efficiently.

Required to operate highway vehicles including but not limited to medium and heavy-duty dump trucks or stake body trucks.

A Cdl a

license will be required upon appointment to move materials and equipment to and from jobsites also to transport trucks, trailers, and equipment to maintenance facilities and assist with diagnosing mechanical issues.

Candidate may be required to perform a variety of tasks within the buildings and grounds maintenance trades including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, sawyer, mowing, landscaping, equipment operation, and snow removal.

May be required to operate and assist with maintenance on diverse types of motor equipment to include but not limited to dump trucks, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, mowers, tractors, roller/compactors, skid steers, chain saws, road graders, snowplows, and motorboats.

Will be required to assist with office tasks such as work orders, vehicle reports, invoicing, etc. Provide written documentation of work performed, as well as purchasing, fuel usage, mileage reporting, etc. May be required to supervise and train other seasonal Operations and Green Thumb staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. Must possess a Class A CDL and necessary endorsements at time of hire and maintain them for duration of employment.
