Civil Service Title- Construction Project Manager II * IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE, OR BE REACHABLE ON THE OPEN-COMPETITIVE LIST.
The New York City Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges is responsible for managing the full life cycle of over 800 bridges and tunnels and over 600 retaining walls, ensuring safety of the public and ensuring mobility for all users. Team members may work on major project designs, oversee construction, oversee maintenance activities, perform engineering reviews and quality assurance tasks on some of the most iconic and complex projects in the City. The selected candidate will be responsible for assigning and coordinating the activities of in-house crews, making flag and corrective repairs to the city's elevated infrastructure; reviews engineering plans in preparation for repair jobs; prepares work tickets and lane closure applications and drafts U.S. Coast Guard notices of upcoming work; coordinates with skilled trades in the field to solve logistical problems and ensure safety standards are maintained; monitors daily progress of projects and confirms the use of materials per industry standards; prepares reports on projects including material and personnel costs; responds to emergencies and supervises work being performed during evenings, nights, and weekends; performs other related duties.
Preferred Skills Ability to perform inspections in all weather conditions which will include nights and weekends.
A strong background in AutoCAD and MS office suite are required. Ability to drive city owned vehicle.
Preference will be given to those with a motor vehicle driver’s license valid in the State of New York, which may be required for certain assignments. This license must be maintained for duration of appointment in this position.

If you have moving violations, license suspension or an accident record, you may be disqualified. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
