The incumbent of this position will perform duties consistent with the Civil Service Classification Standard for this title in the Transportation Maintenance Residency Office. The selected candidate will process transactions; maintain records, documents and information; and produce correspondence, reports, charts, etc. Candidates must be able to read, understand and apply procedures, rules, regulations, and laws. Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining residency inventory; sorting and distributing mail; maintaining records and files; answering telephones and appropriately responding to or referring inquiries made by employees, vendors and customers; maintaining Department databases; providing assistance to the Program Aide in the administration of the Residency program, which may include Personnel, Purchasing and Training activities, such as hiring and promoting employees and employee orientations, assisting with ordering supplies, purchase orders and vouchers, and tracking and entering SLMS/LMS data. Preferred candidates will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).*
To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications for this position. The qualifications are:

Candidates may also be qualified for permanent competitive appointment if reachable from the appropriate Civil Service eligible list or eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
