Job description

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Answer telephone and give information to callers, take messages, and transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
  • Open, read, route, and distribute incoming mail including small packages or other materials and answer routine inquiries.
  • Create, modify, maintain, and process records and transactions using the State Surplus Property Database (SSP) as well as the NYS Store’s online site.
  • Advertise surplus items on the intranet and track status;
  • Gather information and correspond with the public regarding questions on items offered for sale.
  • Process agency transfers, review storage receipts and communicate with warehouse staff.
  • Perform periodic physical inventory counts to verify the accuracy of surplus items in the State Surplus Database (SSP).
  • Operate various communication systems such as telephones and computers; and keep records of such communications.
  • Work professionally and effectively with various state agencies, municipalities, and the general public. Refer inquiries as necessary.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications to perform other related duties as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
